A woman chases an unidentified flying object in London, thus opening the door to mysteries and dangers for which neither she nor those around are at all prepared. A reality that is not to be found in books, or any previous schools of thought regarding the phenomenon, starts to establish itself.
While she attempts to confront the perceived threat, something wishes to meet her half-way, its own journey every bit as risky and treacherous as hers – as well as inexorably and unutterably alien.

It was her room all right, but the door had shrunk into the distance whilst taking on enormous significance: the light pouring through the sides from what was normally the rising sun in the east landing window, was now a brilliant white of eternity, a fierce onslaught of truth, restrained only by the meagre presence of the door. The walls which had once contained her, and kept her safe, still did so but with a geometric unpredictability threatening that stability: there were more of them for a start, pitched at impossible angles to each other, and what was the floor looked suspiciously like the ceiling. Tempted to close her eyes and count to ten, her nature compelled her to open them fully. It was a struggle, as if her eyelids, her whole body, were pressed down by leaden weights.
